Service Description

This Summer special course runs for 3 hours per night on a Thursday for 8 weeks. There will be 4 weeks from the 18 of June to the 9th of July, followed by a break for the summer holidays and then the remaining 4 weeks from the 10th of September to the 1st of October. New for this year is the option to add any Thursday evening in August, making 9,10,11 or 12 weeks in total. The night class is ideal for beginners and all levels alike with an emphasis on self directed projects under the expert guidance of our highly trained tutors. Each student will be guided through the basics of jewellery making and introduced to the hand tools and equipment that are essential in the jewellery making process. Over the course students will be given the opportunity to explore the following skills - -piercing (cutting) -milling and rolling -annealing (heating) -melting -forming (hammering, doming and shaping) -soldering -sizing -texturing -filing -papering (finishing process) -polishing -sand casting -lost wax casting Prior to the class we will send you a welcome letter and induction form via email. This will contain all the things you will need for the day. We look forward to meeting you. Each student will be given a small amount of silver material to get started (max of 7g) any additional materials and workshop consumables will be available to purchase via your tutor. Student are also welcome to recycled their silver or gold jewellery under the advise of the tutor.
