OUR STORY

Hove Jewellery Works was founded by experienced jeweller and setter, Mat Brannagan in August 2020 after more than a decade working in the jewellery industry. Mat wanted to create a fun, creative and supportive space where students can come together to learn and explore jewellery techniques from basic bench skills to advanced techniques.

Based in the heart of Hove, Hove Jewellery Works is located in Stockwell Lodge Studios which is approximately 5 minutes walk from Hove train station. The workshop is fully equipped with industry standard tools and machinery. Classes are taught mostly in small groups with a maximum of six students (larger groups are possible), allowing for ample quality time with their tutor.

Alice Ashton

 Tutor

Alice learned to design and make jewellery in her early 20s, working in the trade for nearly 2 decades. She honed her skill set through working with and learning from other established jewellery designers before starting her own company and opening her studio and shop in Lewes which she ran for 5 years. Alice has been teaching wax carving workshops for the past 7 years in Sussex, Bristol and Cornwall and has taught a number of up and coming young jewellers skills and bench knowledge. Her own jewellery collection is emotive, she describes the process of working in her studio as a form of meditation and her designs are inspired by positive human traits such as courage, boldness and growth.
